The decoration of this glass is clearly inspired by the work of Charles Mavelot, a French master writer and engraver, active in Paris in the last quarter of the 17th century. In his editions, he calls himself valet and engraver to Madame la Dauphine and then ordinary engraver to Her Royal Highness Mademoiselle. His production consists essentially of collections of numbers, which he engraves himself, as well as heraldic engraving.
