Albert Darier, Switzerland. Painter, draftsman, engraver, photographer – Geneva, 1843 – Geneva, 1915.
A student of the École des Beaux-Arts in Paris and of Gleyre, he knew Corot, with whom his family was connected.
His painting “Les Choristes” is on display at the Musée Rath. He created portraits and engravings of various notable figures, including the “Baronne de Saint-Didier,” the “King of Serbia, Peter I,” the “Prince of Anhalt-Dessau,” and “Professor Ernest Naville.”
In 1888, he invented the “escopette,” a “pistol” for photography, fitted with a stock like a firearm (patent dated November 8, 1888). Fred Boissonnas used this device to take photographs of the Fête des Vignerons in 1889.
