Guglielmo Pugi, an Italian sculptor based in Florence, ran a sculpture workshop with his sons, Gino and Fiorenzo, known as "Guglielmo Pugi e Figli". This workshop specialized mainly in export, especially to the United States. Subsequently, the two brothers continued the business under the name of "Fratelli G. e F. Pugi". Pugi is particularly known for his works inspired by biblical themes, including Rebecca at the Well. This sculpture tells the story of Rebecca, who, while drawing water, meets Eliezer, Abraham's servant, seeking a wife for Isaac. Impressed by her goodness and beauty, Eliezer chose her for Isaac, and she became his wife. Pugi's work is distinguished by the grace and emotion captured in the expressions and postures of his figures, testifying to his exceptional talent in sculpture.
