"Fon Fetish Statue"
Fon fetish, Benin, wood, bottles, fabric, cowries and pearls Anthropomorphic sculpture associated with a medicinal composition, mixing bottles that contained alcohol or a mixture of pharmacopoeia. This fetish is therefore a kind of medicine, dedicated to the patient. This patient is symbolized by the sculpture of the botchio (human representation among the Fons of Benin). The object is quite old, it is authentic. Mid-20th century, ex-private collection (Hyères).
