"Yellow Gold Art Deco Mandorla Virgin Medal Pendant"
Beautiful Art Deco period pendant medal in 750/°° yellow gold (18 KT, eagle's head hallmark) representing the Virgin Mary. Mandorla-shaped, it is openwork in the manner of medals depicting stained glass windows and its perimeter is partly pearled. The Virgin Mary is represented here with her symbolic attributes: the veil, the halo, and roses, which are not only associated with her as symbols of universal Love, but are also quite characteristic of Art Deco iconography in general. An engraving on the back of the medal confirms its period: under a monogram is inscribed the date May 30, 1926. The gold and the chiseling offer a very beautiful patina which highlights all the details of this finely worked medal.
