"Jarai Statue"
Large funerary statue in hardwood, related to teak, certainly representing an important member of a clan among the Jarai, North Vietnam. She is seen wearing a dress and a bottle in one hand. This element is characteristic of the antiquity of this effigy which dates back to the 1950s-60s, the period of the arrival of the Americans in Vietnam, the Jarai having been allied with them during the military conflict. The object is authentic and has no restoration. This statue is very heavy, around 60-70 kg, it comes from the collection of Ulrich Kortmann (Dortmund/ Germany).
