"Oil On Cardboard Representing A Stylized Bird Signed By Louis Latapie"
Oil on cardboard signed Latapie at the bottom in the middle, named and dated 1954 on the back. Latapie's work developed at the limits of cubism; the simplification of forms brought him closer to abstraction in the 1950s. A student of Jean-Paul Laurens, of the Académie Julian then in 1911 of the Académie Ranson, he became a professor at the latter in 1920 and presented his first exhibitions in 1922. In 1923, he formed the Association des Castors de Montsouris with Georges Braque, Bissière and Ozenfant, in order to build original houses with a cubic structure. In 1927, he decorated one of the pillars of the famous brasserie La Coupole.
