The work is signed at the bottom right, in the dark part (see the heavily lightened photo). It is clean and in good condition (small restorations in the sky). It is offered in a sober modern matte black frame.
This work was created by André Maglione, a painter and art critic from Marseille. A student of Emile Loubon, he only exhibited at the Paris Salon in 1866 and 1868. In 1867 he created the Cercle artistique de Marseille and his paintings regularly appeared at the exhibitions of the Association of Marseille Artists. The colorful harmony of his paintings is similar to that of Félix Ziem, another Marseille painter, to whom Maglione was close.
Some of his works are in the Palais de Longchamp museum in Marseille.
