Rolling World Map Bar From The 60s - 58cm X 102cm X 58cm

Solid wood bar globe, dating from the 1960s, with turned legs and painted decoration on paper inspired by Martin Behaim's famous “Erdapfel”, the first known terrestrial globe made in Nuremberg in 1492. The globe, richly adorned with historical and geographical motifs, reflects the knowledge of the time derived from the works of Ptolemy, Arab mathematics and the Christian vision of the world.
The partially removable top reveals a clever interior compartment for bottles and glasses. The exterior of the globe is decorated with a multitude of cartographic and symbolic details, while the interior evokes astrological and philosophical themes.
This object is in good overall condition, with a few minor dents on the top of the globe (see photos), without detracting from its charm or functionality. An unusual and decorative piece, ideal for adding a unique vintage touch to any interior.
