"Cameo Brooch With Flora Profile In Gold And Shell, In Napoleon III Period Case"
This beautiful and large brooch is finely engraved in cameo on shell in an oval gold mount. The engraving is very detailed, the beautiful face of the goddess Flora is tilted thoughtfully to the right. The reliefs of her neck and décolleté as well as her clothing are masterfully treated. Her hair in loose curls falling into the neck is decorated with a crown of flowers and ivy leaves. The matte and textured gold mount as well as the needle are in 14 carat gold not hallmarked, tested with a touchstone. C clasp perfectly functional.
It is contained in its original wooden sabot-shaped case covered with dark brown grained leather in perfect condition, lined with pale blue velvet and faded cream silk.
