"Small Solid Wood Chest. Seventeenth Century."
Small solid oak chest constructed of six panels of a single board; its top highlighted with a corbin's beak has received a doweled molding covering the three front panels, assembled with large dovetails; the body of the chest rests on a large molding, itself doweled. In very good condition, lock entry and lock of the period, the key is missing as is the eclipse plate which will be redone; the traces around the lock entry are those of upholsterer's nails which were not original and which we have removed. Very likely from the North of France. Louis XIV period. Seventeenth century.
