Gilt bronze and brown patina clock representing Cleopatra seated sideways holding the serpent. Model also called the little prudence, circa 1760 (bedroom of the "Grand Duke", Pavlovsk Palace, Saint Petersburg). Carrara marble base decorated with an interlacing frieze. Louis XVI period wire movement (revised). Model after a drawing by Antoine FOULLET. Antoine FOULLET (1710-1775) was a French cabinetmaker of the 18th century. Foullet became a master in 1749. He is also known for his clock cases.
