"Pair Of Louis XIV Style Armchairs With Large Backs, Sheathed Legs, Leather Upholstery, 19th Century"
Very beautiful pair of large Louis XIV style armchairs in solid walnut from the second half of the 19th century; Each armchair rests on a base composed of four richly carved sheathed legs connected to each other by an X-shaped spacer. This is decorated in its center with a flattened top; The armrests are curved and finished with volutes decorated with carved foliage, the consoles which support them are also carved with a beautiful leafy work. The upholstery is in good condition and has remained very comfortable. The covering was made of Havana-colored leather with nuances and which has acquired a very beautiful patina over time; We report stains, a few scratches, a small dent on the side of one of the seats, a small hole probably from a cigarette on the other seat, a few cracks, all of which are linked to use and of course to the age of the seats. These few defects are not serious and give them a charm. We also point out that the leather of one of the two backs is slightly stretched, without any loss of comfort. (see photo). These two seats are very solid and very stable. Ideal for an office. Possibility of sale individually on request.
