Item #4751 Charles Picquet (1771-1827) is a cartographer famous for having completed the atlas of Adrien Hubert Brué. Geographer of Napoleon I, he subsequently remained in the service of Louis XVIII and Charles X. His clients here are the Parisian booksellers Magimel, Anselin and Pochard. Denis-Simon Magimel (1766-1831), brother-in-law of Firmin Didot who, in 1793, had given him the part of his book collection concerning military art, had joined forces in 1816 with Auguste-Edouard-Gabriel Anselin (1784-1853), one of his former apprentices, and Augustin-Marie Pochard. The invoice details purchases of books and maps, but also restoration and presentation work: - Geometric description of France by Cassini. - Map of France [for the military engineering service] drawn up by Achin. - Table of artificial geography. - Canvas covering of a Table of trade calculations. - Map of France by Brué. - Canvas covering and case for Environs de Naples. - Map of Switzerland by Keller.
