Painting, oil on canvas, representing a "black stallion in foot" in the center in the foreground in a meadow in the background. Signed and dated lower right J. McAuliffe 1857. Cleaned by a specialist. Bears a stamp on the back: Goupil et Cie Broadway New York old gilded frame later John Mc Auliffe was born in Ireland. He arrived in the United States in 1847 and settled in New York where he remained until his death. He specialized in painting horses for which he had a real passion.
