Elegant baluster PITCHER in pewter with straight and oblique pedestal and goblet, raised lid with flat roof and thumb with oak acorns.
Stamped property mark: I / lis / T.
Control mark: CC crowned / TOL / 1709. (TOL for Tolosa, the old name of the city).
Height: 20.3 cm.
TOULOUSE, first half of the 18th century

It should be noted that in Toulouse, like many French centers, the royal edict of 1691, the control mark was not strictly respected. This mark with the vintage of 1709 is the last listed, so it was used for a large part of the 18th century without being updated. In the absence of a master's mark, this control therefore does not allow us to precisely date the objects that bear it. Similarly, in other production centres the 1691 vintage was also used for a large part of the following century, leading non-specialists to date the pewter bearing this vintage to the end of the 17th century. Rare provenance in perfect condition. These pitchers were the wine measures of the Ancien Régime.
