Object description :

"19th Century Gold Moroccan Leather Document Holder"
Large gilded morocco leather briefcase with arabesque ironwork, made in England by Bramah, 124 Piccadilly. On 21 August 1784, the inventor Joseph Bramah (1748-1814) invented a new locking system that he patented: the pump lock. He then opened his business, the "Bramah Locks Company" at 124 Piccadilly in London. This address remained unchanged until 1871 (the briefcase is therefore prior to this date). This manufacturer supplied Her Majesty the Queen (hence the presence of a royal crown on the lock) as well as the Duchess of Kent. The original key of the lock is clearly present
