Suji-bachi type Kabuto consisting of a helmet (hachi) with eight arrows enhanced with gold paint, and a three-step tehen.
Pair of short side wings (fukigaeshi), decorated with brass mòn and cherry blossoms painted red.
Black-painted iron visor (mabisashi) with gold-painted edging and rivets.
The front of the helmet features a removable brass ornament called a winged maedate (kuwagata) with a red-painted cherry blossom mòn at its center.
Brass agemaki no kan ring.
The neck cover (shikoro) is articulated with three black-painted natural iron strips, one of which is embellished with a gold paint border; braided in colored cotton.
The interior is lined with fabric.
This kabuto has been repainted, revealing the original underpainted mòn on the visor and fukigaeshi. The interior trim has been replaced.
The kabuto is a traditional object in Japanese culture. An integral part of military armor, it was worn by high-ranking samurai.
