"Salt Bottle Silver Martin Pêcheur Enamel Sampson & Mordan 1885"
This bottle with a watertight spring-loaded stopper system is made of solid silver, enameled with an extraordinary Kingfisher head in vibrant colors and hyper-realistic details. It bears English hallmarks on the back: Lion passant: silver Leopard head: London London date letter: K for 1885 Queen Victoria's head: tax paid before 1890. Extremely worn maker's mark, we can guess an M as the second letter. We can confidently attribute it to the firm Samson & Mordan. Indeed, several bottles of this model and dimensions with enameled decorations of natural flowers bear the SM mark and are from the same period.
Excellent condition of the enamel!
The spring and push-button opening system works perfectly.
Note two dents in the stopper.
Victorian period, dated 1885.
