Sarcophagus Erotic Ca1900
A patinated and gilt bronze metamorphic figure of a 'Nuremberg Iron Maiden' the faux rivetted case with twin hinged doors, opening to reveal a nude Egyptian female with crossed hands, on a stepped square shallow plinth base.
At first glance an upright Egyptian sarcophagus, which opens to both sides when pressure is applied to a small lever on the front of the base, revealing an upright nude young woman with arms crossed on her chest, the side panels are attached to the back with hinges and springs, the sculpture is fixed in position on the square base in front. With beautiful original patina, Bergmann model number 960 is inscribed on the bottom.. Excellent and detailed quality of the composition, very life like representation, as is typical for Viennese bronzes.
