Vacheron Constantin is one of the oldest and most renowned watchmaking manufacturers in the world, as well as the oldest continuously produced since its foundation. The Maison was founded on 17 September 1755 in the Genevan district of Saint-Gervais by the watchmaker
Jean-BaptisteMarc Vacheron (1731-1805). Initially, the watchmaking workshop was composed of Jean-Marc and an apprentice.
In 1785, the founder’s sons, Louis André and Abraham Vacheron, took over the company.
The watch dynasty of his son Louis André ends in the early 1930s, and the management of the company passes to Abraham, sole heir.
During the years of his administration, the House passed in 1810 to his son Jacques Barthélémi (grandson of the founder)
With Jacques Barthélémi, the production of more complicated pieces begins. In 1819, a skilled cloth merchant named François Constantin, who had already worked in the watch industry, joined the company.
Constantin is the origin of the watchword of the manufacture "do better if it’s possible, and it’s always possible"...
