"Royalist Engraving - Henry V, Henry Of Artois, Count Of Chambord And Duke Of Bordeaux 66.5x78cm"
Large bust portrait engraving of Henri d'Artois, legitimist pretender to the throne of France under the title of Henri V. The Prince is represented in the 1850s, in a habit with the ribbon of the Holy Spirit, with his famous beard collar. He poses proudly in front of the painting representing his ancestor "the triumphal entry of Henri IV into Paris on March 22, 1594 by François Gérard". The Count of Chambord thus presents himself as a worthy successor to Henri IV to the point of taking the reign name of Henri V. The engraving or print is presented in a beautiful and large wooden frame gilded with gold leaf and bears a label "Fond de Chazotte" below. The frame dating from the 1840s-50s, it makes our engraving an interesting historical object which was made "under the cloak" for legitimist Royalists under the Second Empire. Large very decorative piece, beautiful gilding in good condition which was cleaned by our gilder. Some minor missing parts on the periphery which give an authentic castle background spirit. Beautiful Royalist historical souvenir, large format piece Width: 66.5cm Height: 78cm
