There is also a lot of relief work on the branches, and a wide variety of enamels, blue green red and brown.
The lid is also decorated in relief with flowers, and the lid handle has been replaced by a bronze bud, originally linked to the handle by a chain of bronze links. The base of the lid and the opening of the teapot are also encircled in bronze.
China XVIIIE
Yongzheng period (1723-1735), the mounting is 18th century.
Height: 13cm
Length from end of spout to end of handle: about 16cm
Two small cracks meet at the opening of the teapot on the spout side.
The relief decoration, which is almost always incomplete, is missing a few places. On one side, two leaves are missing, as well as the front part of a squirrel. On the other side, a leaf, a branch and the tail of one of the squirrels are missing. There is also some wear to the enamel on the branches. On the reverse of the lid, at the level of the screw of the lontage, small chips and lines.
I have left the chain on, but it is of little interest as it is no longer attached to the socket. It is quite possible to remove it and leave only the bronze socket.
