Biscuit sculpture showing 2 putti playing and messing around together. Signed in hollow on the base Ch. Massé and stamp of the Sèvres factory. René Charles MASSÉ (1855-1913) was born in Génelard (Saône et Loire). He made his debut in the workshop of Eugène Piat. Participated in the Salon des Artistes français in 1888. He received a mention at the Universal Exhibition of 1889. In 1901, he founded a workshop of leaked earth and stoneware in Brienne-le-Chateau. He then settled permanently in Troyes.
