Superb and very large patinated bronze sculpture by Louis Auguste Moreau (1855-1919).
Entitled “Summer Night”, it was presented at the Salon of 1894.
It represents a young woman as a partially naked Diana, simply dressed in a draped dress. She holds a rose in her hand and in the other a bronze crescent moon with a golden patina. Cherubic cherubs stand in the drape, one climbing the young woman, the second protecting her with his bow. She wears a golden star on her head.
It is a rotating bronze, that is to say it can turn on the axis of the base to admire it from all its sides.
Our proof from the original is of a very rare size, which makes it a very decorative and interesting object.
Signature Louis Moreau and numbered 141 and plaque with title on the base.
Late 19th century period.
Very good condition and beautiful old patina.
