SADDLE COVER FOR GENDARMES OF THE KING'S HOUSE, Restoration (1814-1816). 30028 Canvas saddle cover entirely covered in black velvet edged with a triple gold braid woven with the braids of the gendarmes of the King's House; the central braid measures 3.5 cm wide, and the two outer braids 1.5 cm wide. On its outer edge, the cover is piped scarlet, width 3 mm. In the two rear corners, a flaming Jupiter spindle (22 cm x 18 cm) with lightning is embroidered in thread, cannetilles, sequins and gold lamé. Rectangular brown waxed leather crotches, H 33 cm, width 29 cm. This cover is lined with white ticking with blue stripes. H of each side of the saddle cover (folded in two) 46.5 cm at the front, 62 cm at the back, width at the top 89 cm, width at the bottom 97 cm. France. Restoration (1814-1816). Condition: good condition, velvet rubbed and cut (without losses) at the crotch.
