PAIR OF MUSKETEER PISTOLS OF THE 2ND COMPANY OF THE KING'S MILITARY HOUSE (Black Musketeers), Restoration. 30048 Pistols on the model of the King's Bodyguards. Octagonal barrels with a thunderbolt then round, blued, called "Twisted barrel" on the model of the Year IX, engraved and gilded with a frieze of geometric designs with a golden punch "AC" in a pearled circle, a slight trace of an engraved fleur-de-lys remains, length 20 cm, length with the breech tail 24.8 cm. The barrels are marked below "MR" and dated 1815. Plates of the Year XIII cavalry model with slight upturns at the battery, signed "Maubeuge Manuf Rle", punched "B" crowned with the controller Daniel Bouissavy, 1808-1816. All screws guilloché. Walnut mounts with long barrels, with very sloping, finely checkered stocks, each ending in a straight rim surmounted by a cap, woods punched similarly to the plate and both numbered 2241. Silver-plated brass fittings, plain caps, underguards ending in a fleur-de-lys but not engraved unlike the pistols of the King's Bodyguards, plain elliptical pommels. All the fittings are well punched except for the caps, which demonstrates a specific manufacture. Nail-head iron ramrods. Total length of each pistol 36 cm. France. Restoration. Very good condition, the barrels have kept their original color, the fittings have kept 80% of their silvering, one of the mounts is fractured at the rear of the plate on either side of the pistol. NOTE: These two pistols form a real pair, they are in the same original patina except for one of the two locks which has kept its polish. They were collected by a collector who bought them in two different sales of famous collections: Sale in Toulouse on 13-04-2011 and the second sale of the Guy Kafmann collection, dispersed by Maigret Master, expert Bernard Croissy, sale at the Hôtel Drouot on 22-11-2012. Another pair of pistols identical to this one was sold on October 8, 1990 at Maîtres Couturier-Nicolay. It was accompanied by an officer's sabre of the Black Musketeers, all coming from the direct descendants of the officer.
