In London sn, 1774, work in two parts for this First Edition and first issue of this posthumous work which is considered to be a pseudonymous writing, attributed to d'Holbach.: "Man wanting for his misfortune, to cross the limits of the sphere, he tried to launch himself beyond the visible world. He will neglect experience to feed on conjectures. (......) The aim of the Author is to bring man back to nature, to make reason dear to him, to dispel the shadows which hide from him the only path proper to lead him to the happiness he desires ..... To present reflections useful to the rest & well-being of men favorable to the progress of the spirit. Beautiful copy in full sheepskin binding smooth spine decorated with gilded irons in trellises, green morocco title, marbled guards (annotations on the cover page and the handwritten false title concerning The Work). Beautiful philosophical work, very exciting, an evolution in the century of enlightenment where everything was analyzed for the greatest human knowledge in the line of the Encyclopedists.
