"In The Kitchen. Interior View. Oil Painting. 1930"
Painter: Unsigned painting but most likely by Robert Mahélin. Circa 1930. This painting depicts an interior scene that invites contemplation of a warm and intimate atmosphere. In the foreground, we can see a room, probably a dining room. On the right, a door decorated with patterns, perhaps stained glass or ceramic tiles, attracts the eye. Above, decorative plates are hung. On the left, the woodwork rises up to under a painting hanging on the wall, which seems to complete the decor of this room. But it is in the center of the work that we truly discover the main subject: a kitchen, open to the dining room. A woman is working there, standing, concentrating on her task. She is wearing a blue dress and a beige apron, contrasting delicately with the warm atmosphere emanating from the room. Her hair is tied in a bun. Around her, kitchen utensils, pots and dishes are carefully arranged. The color palette dominated by warm brown tones envelops the scene in an atmosphere of warmth, reinforcing the impression of intimacy and everyday life. The whole gives off a feeling of comfort, almost palpable. The painting has benefited from restoration work, (cleaning, varnish, etc.) it is an oil on cardboard that has been fixed on a wooden support and framed in the original old wooden frame. Dimensions: 65 × 50 cm without frame and 74 × 60 cm with the frame.
