History: Charles-Michel de L'Épée, called Abbé de L'Épée, born Charles-Michel Lespée on November 24, 1712 in Versailles and died on December 23, 1789 in Paris (Saint-Roch parish), is a French priest, one of the precursors of specialized education provided to the deaf.
