"Mempo Ryubu Wrought Iron Samurai Half Mask - Edo Period (1603 - 1868)."
JAPAN - Edo period (1603-1868). Half-mask of samurai called "Mempo" of type "Ryubu" in wrought iron (slight traces of oxidation). Pronounced chin, mobile nose and pierced nostrils, sweat hole with vent under the chin. Red lacquered interior (probably re-lacquered). Three-stage gorget in black lacquered iron on the outside, black and gold on the inside (slight lacks), blue, white and orange silk, suede leather and fabric stamped with stylized floral motifs.
