Description
the object, including the pestle, is made of bronze, hollow, cylindrical in shape and flared at the edge. It has a marked foot and the triple profile decoration also repeated on the edge. In a position opposite to each other and under the flare of the edge, there are two sockets in the shape of a snake's head bent into an inverted "L". On the entire mortar, but not on the pestle, there is a slightly green tinning patina. The pestle, also made of bronze, is tapered towards the center and with equal handles placed at the two ends. At the center of the taper of the pestle, the profile varies to form three annular edges coaxial to the pestle, two lateral ones of equal diameter and a larger one in the centre.
Function: Used to chop herbs, spices, fibers, and reduce solid substances to powder.
