"16th Century Wooden Panel Madonna And Child On Gold Background "
A beautiful wooden panel painted in polychrome tempera on a gold background. Made of catnip and supported by wooden crosspieces to ensure stability, it is adorned with a carved walnut frame, applied directly to the panel. The illustration depicts the Madonna, shown in profile, while holding the baby Jesus in her arms. Both subjects have halos, beautifully defined by golden dots on a gold background, a characteristic element of the sixteenth-century style. The Madonna, with a serene gaze, has elegant hair and wears a red dress, accompanied by a blue tunic with gold trim, which give further richness and beauty to the work. The baby Jesus is also dressed in a tunic with minutely detailed folds, which harmonize with his curls. It is a work of extraordinary refinement, with significant historical and artistic value, capable of enriching any environment with taste and antiquity. The tablet is in good condition, with only a few small pictorial defects. Florentine manufacture, probably attributable to the Rossellino school, dating back to the 16th century.
