Artist now enjoying an international reputation, precursor of Porn-Art and trends exploring gender performances or fetishism, exhibited and supported by André Breton and the surrealist movement, the work of Pierre Molinier was the subject of a major retrospective exhibition at the FRAC MECA Nouvelle Aquitaine (FRANCE) in 2023.
But this sulphurous career, initiated in 1951 when Molinier created a scandal by exhibiting the painting "Le Grand Combat" at the Salon des Indépendants in Bordeaux (of which he has been a member since 1928), was preceded by a more "classical" first period.
Active since the early 1920s, he painted landscapes of his native Lot-et-Garonne, still lifes and portraits.
It is from this first career that the work we present to you comes. Woodcut of an isolated house in the Lot-et-Garonne plains.
