Signed on the right in the middle, and dated: : S.D Vos 1623.
On the back the mark of the panel maker Peter de Noble active from 1604 to 1631/1632.
Frame in ebony veneer and fake tortoiseshell.
Simon de Vos, born in Antwerp in 1603,
Student of Rubens and influenced by Anthony Van Dyck and the Caravaggesque painters, was also a great collector and lover of Flemish art and supplier to the art and painting dealers of the Antwerp Guild.
