Painter of portraits in miniature and watercolor, Jean-Pierre Drouin was a student of the sculptor Dejoux at the school of the Academy of Paris, then of JBJ Augustin for the miniature. He settled "miniature painter, Palais Royal, galerie de pierre, n° 173", in Paris in 1816, then at n° 142 in 1836. This artist, whose works are rare, worked in a tight dotted line, rendered the skin tones accurately, with shadows sometimes pink and brown, and placed a few highlights of white gouache in the hair. His portraits have a lot of presence. Museums where Drouin is represented: MBA of Besançon; Palais des Beaux-Arts, Lille.
