Beautiful old engraving, period print representing a thinking skeleton.... It comes from the abbreviation of anatomy by François Tortebat, French painter and engraver (1616/1690). Beautiful period print, very light folds and tiny tears. It is part of a set of three plates which will all soon be on sale on the site. Purchased from a large Parisian print dealer more than 35 years ago, they still bear the description and the price....in francs! Dimensions excluding cache: 42cm by 25.5cm. Beautiful animated vanitas.
