Small Move Table In Marquetry, Louis XVI Period

This small, elegant and refined side table features fine marquetry with a subtle and harmonious decoration of musical attributes mixed with delicate flowered rosettes, characteristic of the artistic aesthetic of the end of the 18th century.
In rosewood, amaranth and stained sycamore, its top unifies straight lines for the frames, skilfully marking the angles, and curves for the central decoration. Various musical instruments, scores and foliage are presented in a medallion framed by a finely inlaid geometric network, composed of diamonds and floral motifs.

The belt, decorated with a continuous frieze of flowered rosettes, reveals a side drawer. At the lock in medallion topped with a foliage ribbon.

The corners of the table are decorated with finely chiseled gilded bronze frames, representing stylized foliage rosettes and highlighted by gilded bronze rings, confirming the discreet richness specific to Louis XVI furniture.

The tapered sheath legs are delicately framed with amaranth netting and end with gilded bronze clogs.


The style and execution of this table recall the productions of the workshops of master cabinetmakers such as Cosson, renowned for his delicate works perfectly adapted to the taste of the time.
