"Jeanne Besnard-fortin (1892-1978) Sailboat In The Port Of Granville Normandy Cotentin"
Very fresh, this oil on canvas seems to have been executed on the motif so realistic are its colors. The weather is calm, a beautiful summer morning on the port of Granville, a three-masted ship at the quay. It is signed lower left and titled on the back "Port de Granville". Bears an exhibition number. Beautiful and sober Montparnasse frame in hand-carved wood whose reliefs are lightly rubbed with gold. The painting comes from the artist's studio, containing most of his works, which was dispersed a few years ago. Its "landscape" format perfectly highlights the representation of the quay! Dimensions: 55 cm x 38 cm painting 52 cm x 69 framed Very good condition. The painting is on its original canvas. Besnard-Fortin Jeanne Mathilde Marie was born on December 3, 1892 in Dolus-Le-Sec (Indre-et-Loire), died in 1978, painter of landscapes, nudes, still lifes. She exhibited from 1927 in Paris, at the Salon de la Société Nationale des Beaux-Arts and at the Salon des Indépendants. Her studio became one of the meeting points of the very cosmopolitan artistic community of Montparnasse. She is listed in BENEZIT, Dictionary of painters, sculptors, designers and engravers.
