Giovanni Panza (Miseno, March 9, 1894 - Naples, December 20, 1989), a renowned Italian painter, remained faithful to the romantic-naturalist tradition and followed the figurative style of the late 19th-century Neapolitan school. Coming from a family of painters, he was also a poet and writer. His favorite subjects were bucolic scenes and markets, as exemplified by the work presented here.The painting is an oil on panel depicting one of his classic themes: a small fruit and vegetable market scene in the streets of a Naples neighborhood.
