"Oil Painting On Panel, Signed Giovanni Panza. Naples"
Giovanni Panza (Miseno, March 9, 1894 - Naples, December 20, 1989), a renowned Italian painter, remained faithful to the romantic-naturalist tradition and followed the figurative style of the late 19th-century Neapolitan school. Coming from a family of painters, he was also a poet and writer. His favorite subjects were bucolic scenes and markets, as exemplified by the work presented here.
The painting is an oil on panel depicting one of his classic themes: a small fruit and vegetable market scene in the streets of a Naples neighborhood.
Signed, lower left, G. Panza. Naples, circa 1920 - 1930.
