"Venus And Cupid, Bronze Group After James Pradier"
Venus is depicted crouching and leaning over her son Cupid. Scene inspired by mythology signed Jean Jacques dit James Pradier (1790/1852) after the original marble sculpture from 1836 which was purchased by Tsar Nicholas in 1849 and exhibited at the Ermitage Museum (Pradier C.Lapaire Catalogue). The proposed edition produced by the Soyer et Ingé foundry in the first half of the 19th century has an original patina (traces of wear consistent with its age) this model is little known in the absence of the sheet covering Cupid's sex.
