Reliquary Medallion in silver plated metal containing a Relic of Saint Lucy of Syracuse Martyrdom ( ex Ossibus ) + Episcopal Document (Coa) Reliquary Medallion from the 19th century containing a first class relic ( ex.Ossibus ) with its wax seal and intact threads, accompanied by its episcopal authenticity document signed on July 19, 1842 by the agent of Nicolas-Joseph Deheselle Bishop of Namur in Belgium. Description Double-sided oval Reliquary Medallion in brass from the 19th century preciously containing the relics under glass of Saint Lucy Martyrdom. The interior is decorated with a red fabric background. A handwritten label in Latin indicates ex ossibus S.Lucie M. The relic is fixed in a cross with a golden thread. On the back under glass the red wax seal guaranteeing its authenticity. About Saint Lucy of Syracuse is a Christian virgin and martyr of the 4th century, who died under the persecution of the Emperor Diocletian. According to tradition, she devoted her life to God and refused marriage, which provoked the anger of her suitor. Denounced as a Christian, she suffered terrible torture before being executed around the year 304. She is often represented with her eyes on a platter, due to a legend according to which they were torn out, but God miraculously returned them to her. Saint Lucy is the patron saint of the blind and people suffering from visual impairments. Condition Very good condition.
