Painter of figures, architecture, landscapes, illustrator.
A student of Hippolyte Lebas and Jules Coignet at the École des Beaux-Arts de Paris, he exhibited at the Salon de Paris from 1839 to 1875.
He is best known for the sixty watercolours he made for Bishop d'Epaulard on the old quarters of Le Mans. As an illustrator, he collaborated with L'lustration and Le Monde illustré, travelling through France, following Napoleon III in Algeria, in his campaign in Italy, recounting the Franco-Germanic conflict, etc.
