Object description :

"Pewter Wine Pitcher - Rouen, Early 18th Century"
PITCHER in the shape of a baluster with a slightly quarter-round goblet, oblique foot and acorn thumb, decorated with two series of rods.
Control mark: CC crowned ROUEN / 1714.
Mark of Pierre SAHUT received as master in 1693: bird (heron?) crowned / 1693 / PS
Height: 25.2 cm.
ROUIEN, From the year 1714.

Very rare third example of this type, the first observation of which dates back almost fifty years (§ Roger Verdier, volume I, page 242 and volume III, page 134).
Two types have been listed in Normandy: type 1 with a shoulder and type II, presented here, in the shape of a baluster often called a "swan neck" because of the very elongated shape of their neck.
In patina and in perfect condition, bearing an unpublished master's mark.
