"Broken Duchess Of The Louis XVI Period, Broken Duchess Known As "en Gondole", 18th Century Period"
Broken Duchess called "gondola" from the Louis XVI period, 18th century. In waxed and patinated beech, our duchess has a pronounced rounding at the level of the seat backs, giving a very enveloping feeling of comfort. Beautiful molding work and attention to detail brought in particular to a discreet and elegant scroll pattern on the top of the armrests (photo 10). Fluted feet on the entire seat. Overall in very good condition. Woodwork / structure in very good condition, recent upholstery in very good condition also. The exceptionally thick cushions (more than 25cm thick) are extremely comfortable and allow this broken duchess to be used as a day bed. Very beautiful satin fabric with ribboned floral patterns showing some small wear and on which we would also like to point out several halos of various sizes but quite discreet (probable water stains, see photo 11) as well as another slightly grayish stain and therefore a little more visible on one of the sides of the seat cushion of the bergère (see photo 9). These traces remain quite barely visible and the fabric has also kept all its freshness. Dimensions of the bergère alone: width: 76cm backrest height: 89cm seat height at the most rounded part of the cushion: approximately 56cm (height without cushion: 36cm) depth: 82cm Dimensions of the footrest part alone: length: 133cm width: 75cm backrest height: 78cm seat height at the most rounded part of the cushion: approximately 56cm Total length of the bergère + footrest: 2m10
