"Jean Cocteau. Opium, Journal Of A Detoxification. 1930"
Rare original edition, unnumbered, dated 1930 of the famous Opium, by Jean Cocteau. We no longer present the protean artist Jean Cocteau (1889-1963), whose singular and limitless work (poems, drawings, ballet decor, books, cinema frescoes, stained glass windows ...) crossed the 20th century, disturbing all conformisms. Following the death of Raymond Radiguet, with whom he had fallen in love, he fell into opium addiction, and, aware of his possible decline, he followed several detoxification cures to get out of this ordeal. This work makes us enter into his fight, into his doubts and his suffering, to extricate himself from the arms of this false friend. The tortured illustrations provide information on the physical and psychological torments experienced. Black half-leather binding, slightly worn but solid and in good condition. Paper (pages) sometimes stained
