19th century officer's sabre with its scabbard and blade with the "RUCHE" hallmark acquired in 1848 by "Samuel HOPPE" (1827 - 1885). Ruche hallmark active around 1860, hallmark acquired in 1848 by Samuel Hoppe. Single-piece cast bronze mount. Guard with a branch richly decorated with foliage, laurel branches. Chiseled handle representing a lion holding a coat of arms in its paws with wings spread at the base. On the quillon two opposing bodies of a mermaid and a faun's head in shield. End of the quillon in the shape of a coiled snake. White blade with a flat curved back with hollow sides with 1 edge and counter-edge of 16 cm at the point. Samuel Hoppe's "La Ruche" hallmark on the heel of the blade. Black leather scabbard with 2 ornate brass fittings. Lion's head chappe button.
