"Dog Collar - Vreccale "
Unusual Dog collar, called Vreccale - Italy or Spain, early 20th century. Description This large vreccale, also known as an "anti-wolf collar", is made of a wide strip of thick leather on which 42 iron spikes or nails are fixed. Used in pastoral environments, this type of collar was worn by shepherd dogs to protect their throats from the bites of wolves attacking flocks of sheep. Condition Raw leather with a very beautiful patina, all the nails are present. Do not hesitate to contact me for any information concerning this unusual object.
