After Jacob Philipp HACKERT (1737-1807), engraved by Pierre Charles Nicolas DUFOUR (1725-1818). 1st view of the city from the Pont de l'Arche near Rouen. original edition of 1770 old bubbled/blown glass intaglio engraving 29.8 x 42.7 (the subject) sheet made: 44 x 35 mahogany frame included: 42 x 51.5 intaglio burin print on the left on the banks of the Seine, a chapel in the margin on either side of a cartouche with the arms "dedicated to Messire Jacques Nicolas Le Boucher d'Ailly Chevalier" by Nicolas Dufour below on the left "Taken from the Cabinet of Mr de Richemont, in Abbeville in Picardy" this engraving (and its pendant) was announced in "L'Avant Coureur" of July 23, 1770, page 466 Source: Notice of the Inventory of the French fund of engravers of the 18th century this is indeed an original edition of 1770.
