"Votive Board, Primitive Arts, Oceanic Art, Pacific Art, Papua New Guinea"
Wooden votive board from a ceremonial house. Collected in the Washkuk hills area in Papua New Guinea. These boards, placed in the men's house, show drawings that are the abstract representation of ancestors or natural elements (totemic animals and plants). These are real artistic carvings whose symbols are a writing in their own right. Here a stylized face whose sculptures also evoke an animal (crab? insect?). Possibility of base on request. Approx. 107 x 25 cm / €460 including shipping costs.
